Nexg6 A GOOD STUDY POSITION

Managed to find Nexg6 in this sparring game last night, it is a good study position, the game went on for another 50 moves as I did not always find the best move for white.

WHAT WHITE PEOPLE DON`T SEE, "THE WATERMELON MAN!"

The position above is just one of the many situations he looks at. It is white to play, you need to see a sequence of moves not just one.

Below is a video which looks at another striking example.

It is fun watching black American`s, they have a charisma all of their own. White people are gruesomely hilarious when they try to copy them!! They just don`t have the same charisma!

One of the funniest movies I ever saw on TV was called "The Watermelon Man."

It is never shown now as far as I know, think it must be classified as "racist."

Here is Issac Hayes live in a TV Studio.

Here is the Isley Brothers.

The video below is the best musical video on the internet!!

TIME TROUBLE POSITION, HORRIBLE BLUNDER 3

Robert Lavery and myself had a very intriguing and enjoyable game last night. A very interesting position arose when I was in serious time trouble. Naturally I missed the key move!

The position is below. Black has just played Qxf4 pawn. It is now me to move.

I missed 1.QxR+  KxQ 2. Nh5+ forking the King and the queen.

Plus it was also possible to play 1.Nh5 threatening checkmate and forking the Queen.

Robert played well and I eventually lost the game on time.

There are a number of local players who seem to thrive while playing in time trouble, they seem to find strong moves with ease.

I am not one of them, playing very rapidly in time trouble is not my forte, I do not have the temperament for it!

In all the years playing chess, I have never had the dubious pleasure of suffering from time trouble, but it has really crept up on me over the past few years!

It is good to know the Devil will suffer from serious time trouble, that is when he, and his minions will make all their fatal mistakes!

Revelation 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

3-2 VICTORY AND A GOOD STUDY POSITION

Kelly`s Heroes gained a 3-2 victory over Civil Service in last night`s match.

My game with David Blair was the last to finish, so I only got a very short video clip of the teams before the games commenced.

A very interesting study position emerged in our game.  It would be a very good study position for club players, to try and visualise the possible variations without moving the pieces or using an online widget to move the pieces.

I would describe the position as quite treacherous for both sides.

In the position below, black has just played f5 and white has responded by moving the Knight from e2 to g3, this is how the critical position emerged. Black to move?

Most club players will perhaps find this surprising if they check their visualisation with a computer programme to see what they miss? Or perhaps what they have correctly visualised?

It may be a rather more simple position for GMs or IMs?

WHY DID IT RESIGN?

Got the above position in a Fritz rated game a few weeks ago.  I was white and it is white to play, black has just played Qc8.

At the time I was very curious to see what Fritz would do as both sides have the same number of pawns and pieces, so I doubled and Fritz resigned.

If this position occurred in a game between humans, black would maybe feel uncomfortable but I do not suspect many, if any would resign?

I had not decided what to play next as white but I was aware there were a few good options.

HORRIBLE BLUNDER 2

The position below arose in a game I played last week. I am black, Fritz is white and is playing at 2398 strength.
White has just played g5 g6, it is now black to play.

Over the years, I have read in many books, articles and seen in videos, the advice given, that is bad to move the pawns in front of your king. All this information was familiar to me.

However, it is quite different when a computer programme starts attacking your kingside with it`s advanced pawns in reality.

It is as if I became paralysed and transfixed by the danger of white`s attack, it rendered me incapable of analysing the situation correctly, in my bewildered state I failed to heed the advice I had come across over the years.

I was unable to assess the fact that black too had a possible ongoing attack. After the game Fritz analysis showed be the best way to continue, was to ignore white`s attack and reply with b5 b4!

To put it simply, I became bemused in the heat of battle and was unable to think correctly!

I wonder how many club players would be able to analyse the position above for black and play the b5 b4 move?

It would probably be easy for GMs and IMs to assess the situation precisely, but not so easy for many club players?

If I get time tomorrow I must post the game and how it went, I lost.

Then I will post the game showing how it could have and should have went if I had remained calm!

HORRIBLE BLUNDER 1

Think I will do and ongoing series titled "Horrible Blunders."

A few moments ago I got this position in a Fritz rated game. Fritz rating is set at 2398, I am white and it was white to play.

I was quite happy with this position and I played g4. After such a horrible blunder there is only one thing I can do. Stop playing for the night, take the dog for a walk!

Most club players would be able to see black`s best move after white`s g4 move?

DOES IT WORK?

Just had this position in a game. Black to move, Bxg3 looks very tempting but does it work?

Don`t think I would play it in a real game against a human as it is very hard to visualise all the possibilities.

There is still lots of moves for black to try and visualise after 1...Bxg3 2.hxBg3 Qxg3 3.?????

It is a good study position though.
