DISASTER AND A BAD HABIT

My fourth game in the new rated game mode was somewhat of a disaster.  The defence was not at fault, it was a clear case of bad judgement on my part.

Was not following any lines from any of my DVD`s or books here, I thought I could get an advantage after Fritz played 4.Qd3.  It did not work out that way though.  There is a saying which deals with such scenarios, it is "Dry yer eyes."

Game 5 ended because I cannot get out of a bad habit.  After Fritz made move 29, I sensed I had a better position but had not worked out the best way to continue, so I doubled to see what it would do, Fritz then resigned.

Need to get out of the bad habit of doubling, it would be better to keep playing because we humans can blunder even really good positions. Looking at it after the game, I think I may have been tempted to play 30.Nb6 next.

Bologan`s DVD series encouraged me to start playing the Open Sicilian.

In game 4 I was wise in my own eyes, so I subsequently lost.

The score is 3.5 to 1.5 in my favour.

LATEST GAME IS UNFORTUNATELY DRAWN

My latest game in the new cycle with the Fritz rated game mode had to be abandoned in a draw.  Due to being interrupted, I had to offer a draw after move 58, white is in a winning position.

This is one of the slight drawbacks about playing chess at home. My Fritz programme seems to let you play so many games in "rated games mode," then it resets the games back to a zero setting.

The present score in the new cycle is 2.5 to 0.5 in my favour.  Next game I will be black, I would like to try out Simon William`s Black Lion if I get the opportunity.

I have Valeri Lilov`s DVD on the 4 Knights.

Plus this, The 4 Knights by Cyrus Lakdawala, who is a very good author. He can be insightful and amusing at the same time.

In my game today I was like the king who had to desire conditions of peace.

THE MADNESS OF GOVERNMENT FUNDING

Government funding for Chess for the year 2016/2017 equals ZERO!

Chess instills an innate sense of prudence, as well as other attributes.

FRIDAY`S GAME AS BLACK

Just finished  a game playing black a short time ago. Another Fritz rated game at 25 minutes time control.  It would not resign in a lost position, on some occasions it does but on this occasion it did not.

Have this DVD gives good lines for black.

Found this really good for Rook and pawn endgames.

GAME FROM LAST NIGHT

This was a game I played about 10.45pm last night. As you can see Fritz is set at a rating of 2290 in the Fritz rated play mode.

I don`t believe this is an accurate correlation with a human player. I suspect a human 2290 player would be much stronger.

Nevertheless, I have to thank Victor Bologan and his Fit for the French DVD for giving me an insight into playing against this version of the French defence.

NEW CHESS DVD

Just bought Simon Williams new Chessbase DVD titled The Black Lion.

Personally speaking, I have found all the DVD`s I have bought to be very beneficial.

At the minute I have not been playing much Club chess but I do play lot`s of Chess at home using Deep Frtiz 14.

The beauty of this means I choose the time to play, so I can play when I am at my most mentally alert.  This is a big bonus for some one like me who suffers from serious sleep problems.

Have managed to achieve Candidate Master Title on a number of occasions from Fritz. Lots of Frtiz rated games at 25 minute time controls.

Well known English GM Simon Williams posted a most amazing video on the Chess.com website yesterday. It examines an attacking system for the white player and it just happens to be called “The Hillbilly Attack.”

To be honest, I have never heard of this attack before and initially thought Simon Williams was making a joke, it turns out he was serious and “The Hillbilly Attack” really does exist.

Below is a Wikipedia description of the word “Hillbilly.”

Hillbilly is a term (often derogatory) for people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas in the United States, primarily in Appalachia, but also parts of the Ozarks. Due to its strongly stereotypical connotations, the term can be offensive to those Americans of Appalachian or Ozark heritage.

When I saw this it became apparent to me that it immediately opened up the opportunity for Nelson McCausland and his cronies to initiate another of their lucrative, money-spinning, state-funded “cultural schemes.”

An enterprising character like Nelson or one of his cronies could easily hi-jack and re-invent “The Hillbilly Attack” by re-naming it as “The Ulster-Scots Attack” or perhaps “The Scots-Irish Attack.”

They could then establish a new Chess Club giving it the name “The Ulster-Scots Chess Club” or “The Scots-Irish Chess Club.” Such a venture must easily be good for funding if about £200,000 per year don`t you think?

It is much too good an opportunity to miss, I must send this article to the Ulster-Scots Agency, no doubt they will set the wheels in motion to get the whole enterprise of the ground ASAP.

It would be a great appropriate position for Nelson`s sidekick/ Special Advisor Stephen Brimstone. Stephen is just the man to lead a new “Ulster-Scots Chess Club,” anyone with a phenomenal memory like Stephen is bound to be a great chess player. His incredible “Magnus Carlsen like memory” is a wonder to behold.

This article may sound outrageous, HOWEVER if you look a the recent list detailing all the mass-murderers, perverts and other gangster type groups receiving substantial funding, you will soon come to the conclusion this article is quite sensible.
